Found on Bring A Trailer, this 2001 Ford Focus may be the ultimate in stealthy speed. From the outside, it looks like any other 2001 Focus, although the front suspension rides a little high. Roll up next to someone at a light, and my guess is that they’d be looking around for the sound of that V8 rumble; they’d never guess it’s emanating from beneath the Focus’ hood.Someone went to a lot of effort to build this car, currently for sale on eBay. They began with an FWD to RWD conversion, before shoehorning in a 5.0 liter Ford Racing crate motor, good for about 360 horsepower. The stock tranny wouldn’t last more than a single shift, so a Tremec 5 speed was made to fit and delivers the power to the wheels through an 8.8 inch Ford Racing TracLock rear end. I’ve got no idea what size tires are on the rear, but they’re nowhere close to big enough. This car must do hellacious, end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it style burnouts.

The builder went to great lengths to keep the appearance as stock as possible. The fenders are stock, and not even flared, which severely restricts tire and wheel width. The custom exhaust features a single 3” outlet to make the car look more docile, but the whole Q-Ship ruse is foiled by the giant Ford Racing tach (complete with shift light) on the dash. I’d have installed a regular tach in the instrument cluster, with a simple shift light hidden somewhere in the dash.

A descendent of another American SUV favorite, the Jimmy, the GMC Yukon has been a mainstay in the world of full-size vehicles for almost 20 years. Originally based off of the GMT400 platform, the first-generation GMC Yukon utilized a truck chassis and in 1994, switched from being offered strictly as a 2-door to adding a 4-door model to the roster. Consequently, the 4-door Yukon weighed in about a half-ton more than the 2-door model. A 5.7L small-block V8 was the standard engine included but a 6.5L turbocharged V8 became available in 1994, as well. In 2000, the Yukon and the Tahoe (both are closely related) were redesigned and moved to the GMT800 platform, at the time the most recent platform for GM's full-size trucks. Smaller yet more powerful engines were introduced to replace the standard 5.7L from the first series, including a 5.3L Vortec V8 capable of topping out at 285 horsepower.
The second-generation Yukon also offImage via Wikipediaered an automatic transmission only and showcased some exterior changes, as well. The outline of the body was now more aerodynamically friendly and the grille was improved for a bolder image. Inside the Yukon, upgraded seats, improved door panels, and a new dash were introduced. When 2003 arrived, the Yukon began to take on even more changes. StabiliTrak, GM's stability control system, arrived. Other amenities such as satellite radio and a DVD entertainment system were also offered. In 2004, the engine options were updated with GMC still leaning on smaller yet more efficient motors. A 4.8L Vortec was introduced that displayed the same horsepower as the original 5.3L (285). A new 5.3L Vortec became available and was rated for 295 HP.
Redesigned for the GMT900 platform, the third-generation GMC Yukon debuted in 2007. The front of the exterior featured a substantial number of changes. A smoother, curvier hood, new fascia, and larger grille highlight the restyling cues. New seats, real wood trim on the dash, chrome accents, and improved door panels make up the notable updates for the interior. From 2000 to 2008, the GMC Yukon has sold on average 236,561 units per year, easily placing it among the elite in its class in terms of overall popularity.
